i wanted this piece to bring JOY and BRIGHT HOPE! to some of the darker days of winter..
reminding me and you and maybe the cat currently napping next to me - to hold fast- and to try to take it all in stride, as a bright reminder that there are seasons- and these seasons are all connected - and that WE ARE ALL CONNECTED in fact- and that we all need each other.
so i decided to draw from some of my favorite places, chatham MA, ptown, nantucket- and yes some dreamy make believe combo of southern coastal haunts-
to tell a colorful visual tale that told how the light needed the darkness, the darkness needed the light, etc etc.
but mostly i loved the idea of the sky and sea intimately talking well into the night together, and upon waking up, inside of the inevitable sunrise- seeing the bright beautiful reflections / past evenings stories, playing upon the water, and feeling shy or grateful or unburdened- or delighted!
or all of these things- bc it was a new day and you were now doing it together- and somebody "got" you- something/one who was vast and different but yet so intimately connected in symbiotic holy ways. AND!?!
that our stories are maybe even gorgeous.
also anyone who has seen the unexpected glorious reflection of a sunrise or sunset on the water and were moved by the sight, might have room in their heart to be gentle during the dark times bc
THE LIGHT WILL ALWAYS BE BACK!
