i loved imagining this dreamy bloomy magical neighborhood, where everything smells like lilacs and sea breezes. it was a complete joy to paint. 
also fun was tucking one of my favorite vintage broncos ( 1974-ish?) in there, as part of the 'is it memory or is it make believe' color celebration...
and i also hid some of my favorite birds inside of the landscape. this is always a great idea!
FUN RELEVANT FACT: over the years while living and experiencing this glorious cape and islands area- ive discovered that SO much of birding is listening. you hear the song and follow it. or think you hear a familiar song and then wander accordingly... 
its part luck part magic part work. 
which is a truly excellent recipe for most things.
