this seaplane painting is on view at tin pan alley
a restaurant on commercial street in provincetown, ma
i loved getting lost painting this one, bc i have a sentimental connection to my dear father, with all things airplane. a pilot and a poet, my dad gave me at least 100 hours of flight lessons, when i was young enough not to quite realize what a crazy and magical thing that was, and how id later treasure that time together, just us soaring above and looking at the seemingly small earth landscape below us ..
indeed the action of working on this one turned into a meditative and prayer-filled exercise of love and letting go and gratitude and connection to ones true lovely people forever
its a soaring celebration of hope, of change, of color, and most ultimately, the fullness, the freedom, even, of unconditional love.
so now when i see a small plane above, my heart soars with the wonder, the hope, and the foolish gorgeous longing we all may feel, dreaming of flight. (i know i sure feel it)
and whats not lofty
totally holy
or deeply essential
about any of that
also worthy of note:
i DO love a damn seaplane.
without fail, every time i see one
things feel more exotic
more renegade
36 x 24

blond wood gallery frame
come see it at the commons in ptown
and i remain excited and grateful thank you visited here ☺️ xo beth xo
