the title of this piece is:
"i dreamt of his favorite chairs by the sea,
the buoys all weightless with wild star hope"
(the title didnt fit in the allotted title space, but it is important to me that the full title be known)
A THING I LOVE and that im particularly proud of about this rich and deeplyDeep hued painting, is that it has a big impact in person. like it almost winks at you from across the room. it has a very seductive boom 💥 pow about it.
and this piece is also one that i found extremely meditative and healing to work on. i found myself really focused on the buoys for a days looong time, enough so that what i desired was true: that when one stepped away from the piece, they could experience/ feel the distance differences of each buoy as they rose up, weightless, and absolutely not all at one time - yet naturally coordinated, like how smoke? or bubbles? do... or you know, how things rise or float or are joyfully effervescent - during the weirdo plots of holy magical important dreams. they are effortlessly graceful and enchanting.
AND AS WE ALL KNOW the world has certainly been swirling lately, with war with noise with exchange and with beauty. lots and lots happening- and as always for human beings, such strange juxtapositions-
and so i searched for and then found both the comfort and meaning i was longing for, (abstractly and tangibly) while working carefully on each circle, and each color within each circle, within this meditation of a work.
an exercise where i insisted that both raw spark and seasonal natural order are honored.
and the colors i chose and their varying bodies, substance, and opacity are deliberate.
and so subsequently, they are hopeful triumphant and confident.
there are some hues that have the verve and sting of youth, while others are ageless and experienced in all the best ways.
anyways dreams do what they want, and so naturally i invited this fact to live within this work. i think you get it.
i also really dove deep into the idea of the deep deep deep sea, in this one- the many varying blues and greens and shimmers and so many layers and hues and accent hues of each shade in between- resulted in a real celebration of some of my very favorite ocean colors.
and im here to tell you that celebrating ocean colors feels really good.
AND WHAT I DO TRULY LOVE about these particular CHAIRS, and in fact the very bouquet on the little table, are that through some dreamy miracle exchange ?! well they are exactly as those that that visited me in my veryvery soothing and mellow short film of a dream -
and so fantastically enough- these chairs remain both in life now, and so absurdly lovely in my memory- that i will have a lifetime of reverence and curiosity about just how that happened.
so i believe these chairs are so lucky, within their manifestation and history, and im really delighted at how warmcozy velvety they turned out.
obviously, i would sit in them by the sea allll the damn time. so do come on over.
thank you and i hope you love this piece.
