this is both a sincere yet playful abstract seascape- one that celebrates the ocean and her shores and her rich deep ever changing colors and textures- all on a traditional cape cod cedar shingle, that to me looks like a flag or a pennant

but oh- i had so much fun with this one, painted during gorgeous evening sunsets- in my artist's shed on the pier in provincetown ma this past autumn-

-feeling absolutely at peace and in place + grateful, with -what i came to realize gradually- was a wildly happy heart. what an elusively cool feeling to just sneak up on me like that.

and so, on those evenings, i was indeed a citizen of the state of happiness, and dammit i pledged allegiance! bc who hasnt lived in some of those other states.. i knew the difference ☺️
