so this late summer into early fall i sat and painted in my sweet art shed on the macmillian pier in provincetown-

while the sunshine glistened on the harbor, and the days shifted into dusk and evenings- and sometimes storms began to brew and spill into the landscape

i watched laughter and huge hauls and fights and flirting and boredom and hope and sadness and dedication-
and i witnessed the rituals of so many of these different kinds of boats and ships and people as they were in my periphery nearly every day..

so this painting was in my atmosphere and diving in and out of my mind's eye the whole while it seemed, as i realized i was right in the middle of seafaring Tradition, yet right as that Tradition itself was within a state of wild transition. and oh is there so much more to say about this, by a bonfire at some point on a perfect night
