this painting is about
driving over the bridge to get to the cape
its about that heart flutter
that exhale
that homecoming
and i particularly enjoyed imagining
a vintage bronco
or scout
or jeep
as the dreamy chariot
and almost as if it were a board game from childhood, i added a couple of perfect old school checkerboard folding lawn chairs as "the win"
or as the metaphorical reward landing place, after braving darker colder grayer winter months.
the winter months who i find deeply fulfilling still- as they absolutely reveal a different cape magic, necessary alternative lessons, and certainly deeper truths.
i also played with cooler colors, layered texturing + simple familiar tokens, to conjure imaginings or memories of stark winter hikes and the finds along the trails
